Robert Lewandowski: Bayern Munich didn't take enough risks against Liverpool

Liverpool are now in the hat for Friday's Champions League quarter-final/semi-final draw.

"We didn't risk so much", said Lewandowski, Bayern's main scoring threat.

"There are some places in the world where whichever team would struggle".

Liverpool suffered an early setback when the captain, Jordan Henderson, limped off with an ankle injury that is set to rule him out of the Premier League trip to Fulham on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp's men went into the second leg knowing that an away goal could prove vital after the two team's had played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Despite all the focus on Manchester City chasing a quadruple, Liverpool are still pursuing a Premier League-Champions League double - something not achieved since Manchester United managed it in 2008 - and with Van Dijk in such peerless form, you can not write them off. The only shadow is Hendo twisting his ankle, but it is Hendo so hopefully not too serious. There are obviously a lot of good teams left, but we've got good feelings, obviously, from past year and those experiences.

So, English football is back, capped by Liverpool's victory in Munich on Wednesday night, but is the Premier League ready, once again, to dominate the Champions League?

Van Dijk oozes confidence on the ball, he organises his defence and those in front of him, and opponents are so concerned by his ability on the ball that they leave space for other Liverpool players by spending so much energy attempting to starve the former Celtic defender of possession. It doesn't bring back better results from the time when we lost. Not since Bayern's Wembley win against Dortmund in 2013 has a Champions League been won without one of them in the victorious team and there has been no sign of either of them slowing up in this season's competition.

Everything inevitably comes to an end at some point, but if an English team is to win the Champions League this season, they are likely to have to beat a team containing Messi or Ronaldo, or defeat both, in order to claim the trophy.

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho had a good night on Wednesday.
