Senator Bernie Sanders has apologised to female staff members on his 2016 United States presidential campaign who allege they were mistreated by male aides. "What they experienced was absolutely unacceptable and certainly not what a progressive campaign, or any campaign, should be about..." He said that rhetoric about "ending sexism and ending all forms of discrimination. can not just be words".

50-year-old former convention floor leader Robert Becker has been accused of telling a 20-year-old subordinate he wanted to have sex with her and forcibly kissing her during the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

"I categorically deny these allegations of improper and unprofessional conduct", Becker said, adding that the alleged assault is "at odds with my recollection of a late evening filled with many hugs and kisses and tears and conversations about what's next".

"Bernie Sanders is facing backlash after new allegations of sexual harassment against one of his former top campaign aides", Todd explained.

Politico's report said the "female staffer did not report the incident immediately because the campaign had just ended at the time of the incident".

"To the women in our campaign who were harassed on the street I apologize - our standards, our procedures, our safeguards were clearly inadequate", the potential 2020 contender told reporters Thursday at a press conference on prescription drug prices.

"I was little bit busy running around the country trying to make the case", Sanders told CNN on January 2. It must be a reality in our daily lives.

"Candidates who allow people like Robert Becker to lead their organizations shouldn't earn the highest office in our government", the woman said. "Then he moved his hands to her head and forcibly kissed her, putting his tongue in her mouth as he held her, the woman and other sources said".

However one of the senator's principal campaign committees, Friends of Bernie Sanders, said it will not support another presidential run if Becker is involved. Rather, Weaver told CNN, he'd serve as "a strategic adviser that needs to deal with some of the 30,000-foot issues as opposed to the management of a day-to-day campaign".

It has been reported that Weaver's decisions around complaints of sexual misconduct was troublesome and that there was no clear path for complaints to be made, according to the New York Times. The Sanders camp, though, has said he's not on the payroll. She reported the harassment after he contacted her again for a possible 2020 campaign.

Politico also reported that over a half-dozen staffers who worked with Becker on the 2016 campaign said there was "a pattern of other inappropriate behavior or poor management". He outlined what steps his 2018 Senate re-election campaign had taken to prevent sexual harassment, including training on the issue for all employees.
