Wilder and Fury draw in bout that Englishman clearly dominated

Fans and pundits have reacted with disbelief after Tyson Fury's world title bout with Deontay Wilder ended a draw.

Fury was denied the WBC heavyweight title and one of the greatest comebacks in history when he and Wilder fought to a thrilling draw, but only after he had survived two dramatic knockdowns, the second one so heavy he had appeared out cold.

Talk of a rematch with Wilder has already begun with both parties seemingly keen to get a date in the diary, although Fury's promoter Frank Warren hopes to host the fight in the United Kingdom.

"I think with the two knockdowns I definitely won the fight", Wilder said.

The Brit had to give up his titles after having to fight depression and a suspension for a failed drugs test and took almost three years before getting back in the ring following the Klitschko win. Showed good heart to get back up.

"I've come away and I'm on away soil but what most disappointed me was the British judge".

However, while most considered Fury ahead going into the later rounds, a ninth round knockdown from Wilder tightened things up as they headed to the championship rounds. It was a great fight, and let's do it again.

Per ESPN, Wilder will bank $4million for his efforts while Fury will take home $3 million, also both men have an opportunity to earn a share from PPV revenue.

"I believe the fight with Tyson Fury is the stronger fight", said co-manager Shelly Finkel. I don't know anyone on the planet that can move like that.

Fury, fighting for the third time this year with 26-year-old trainer Ben Davison in his corner, also had former boxing champion Ricky Hatton and seven-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach in his corner.

Wilder landed just 71 of 430 punches thrown, or 17 per cent.

The clamour for a rematch with Fury may well prove to be irresistible.

The world of sport was impressed with Fury's performance and post-match words, with Rio Ferdinand and Lennox Lewis among those paying tribute to him.

Wilder looked like he wanted to attack Fury's body early then went head hunting in the middle rounds without much success. Fury used his twitchy movement and near-constant feints to disrupt the rhythm of Wilder, whose trademark looping punches rarely found their mark. Fury spent much of the round going backward other than throwing a few jabs.

It was Fury, after all, who started the current heavyweight renaissance by doing the impossible in 2015 to end Klitschko's monotonous lineal reign.

Of the 39 men to have stepped into the ring in a professional setting with Wilder before tonight's encounter with the Englishman Tyson Fury, only one had made it long enough to hear the final bell.

"No wonder AJ didn't want no part of that right hand!"
