Fossil gets active with Sport smartwatch

Compared to nearly all of Fossil's previous Wear OS efforts, the aptly named Sport is focused less on traditional style and more on modern functionality. Now the Fossil Sport Smartwatch is the second wearable featuring Qualcomm's Wear 3100 platform, running Google's redesigned Wear OS.

In reality, your strap choices obviously aren't endless, but there are 28 different ones to choose from, as Fossil says that the Sport is compatible with all 18mm watch straps.

The company says the 350 mAh unit, with the help of Wear 3100, will be able to eke out a day of life based on the "full smartwatch experience", which we assume includes some HR tracking and Global Positioning System. Additionally, the Fossil Sport also features a new battery-saving mode; enhanced ambient mode; and integrated heart rate, NFC and Global Positioning System capabilities. The fitness-oriented Wear OS device will run the latest version of Wear OS with a revamped fitness and navigation UI. A few flavors are only available for pre-order as of this writing, but every variant carries the same price of $255, regardless of color and size. On the software side, Fossil has included three watch faces that integrate with Google Fit to help track your fitness, and Fossil has also preloaded apps like Spotify and Noonlight.

Online sales are underway today, followed by physical inventory headed to "select" Fossil retail stores around the world on November 12.
