Destiny 2 Free on PC Until November 18

Today, Activision announced that Destiny 2 is going free until November 18, 2018.

Destiny 2 is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its launch on Battle.net by making itself free until November 18th. What's more, after the limited time is up, those who got the game can keep it forever. Additionally, the Forsaken multiplayer mode Gambit will be free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC from November 9th to the 11th. Note that this is the vanilla version of Destiny 2, so it doesn't come with the numerous expansions that have arrived since the game launched past year. Between this and the relaunch of its refer-a-friend scheme, Bungie is clearly shoring up its playerbase.

To claim Destiny 2, fire up the Battle.net app and click on the gift icon in the upper-right, as indicated above. All you need is a Battle.net account to download the game. You can also sign into your Battle.net account online and claim it on the web. It's not much, but it's a decent enough thank you to all the faithful Guardians that made Destiny 2 the biggest PC launch in Activision history. Probably not. But if it's free-well, then it's a loss-leader, the hook that gets you to buy Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and most importantly Forsaken. Gambit is a 4v4 hybrid activity included with Destiny 2: Forsaken. They'll be able to download the base version of Destiny 2, which comes with the original eight-hour campaign and a level of 20.

Obviously, this offer only applies to people who haven't already purchased the game on PC. In the story of Destiny 2, the last city on Earth has fallen and lies in ruins.
