Grassley wrote that the committee initially investigated her allegation even though it came "from an anonymous accuser" with "no return address", "timeframe", or "location" of the alleged assaults. "Such acts are not only unfair; they are potentially illegal".

Julie Swetnick, through her attorney, Michael Avenatti, accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct that allegedly took place in the 1980s.

President Donald Trump, right, stands with Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, left, before a ceremonial swearing in in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Monday, Oct. 8, 2018. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., accusing Brett Kavanaugh of raping her now admits she engaged in a "ploy" against the then-Supreme Court nominee.

In a tweet Saturday, apparently referring to Judy Munro-Leighton, the president said a vicious accuser of Justice Kavanaugh has just admitted she was lying, and added her story was totally made up or fake.

The letter continued, "On September 25, 2018, staffers for Senator [Kamala] Harris [of California], a Committee member, referred an undated handwritten letter to Committee investigators that her California office had received signed under the alias "Jane Doe" from Oceanside, California". "It is illegal to make materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements to Congressional investigators". The letter included a story about Kavanaugh and another male groping, sexually assaulting and ultimately raping a woman in a vehicle after a party.

Interestingly, a fresh Harvard/Harris Poll cited by Breitbart has it most American women and men (about 55 percent) say Democrats were not genuinely concerned with the accusations of sexual assault made by Christine Blasey Ford, but instead were using the allegations and hype to political gain. I am not Jane Doe. but I did read Jane Doe's letter.

"I was angry and I sent it out", the woman told investigators, according to Grassley's letter. "She has stood by her charges - despite denials by Kavanaugh under oath".

"In short, during the Committee's time-sensitive investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, Ms. Munro-Leighton submitted a fabricated allegation, which diverted Committee resources".

Even though Trump originally admitted that Ford's testimony was "very compelling" - referring to her as a "very credible witness" - he later mocked her performance at Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, and it appears that he will stick by his skepticism of her account after reviewing Grassley's letter revealing Munro-Leighton false accusations. He denied that any such thing had ever happened, but after the transcript of the call was released later that same day, multiple news sites reported on the allegation made in the letter.
