Unrepentant Ty Montgomery hits back at anonymous teammates who blasted him

With the Packers trailing 29-27 with 205 on the clock, the Rams kicked off to Montgomery in the end zone.

Montgomery's intention obviously was not to fumble, but that's precisely why he was told to take a knee. "He yelled, 'Take a f-- knee!' He was very, very mad". Unfortunately, I ended up fumbling the football. "We got the win and that's all that matters". You don't want to have the timeout distribution there at the end, to be at 2:05, I mean, that's exactly what we're looking for. That's not the man I am. "That's not the kind of person I am". No one ever came to me. Because now, we're talking about my character. We are not even talking about the fumble anymore, we're talking about my character. "We're talking about the reasons why I did what I did, and I'm not OK with that".

Did Ty Montgomery disobey coaches? Montgomery didn't speak to the media. However, his teammates did. He had been removed from the game during the prior offensive drive, and unnamed teammates went off on Montgomery in chats with NFL.com's Michael Silver.

"They took him out (the previous drive) for a play and he slammed his helmet and threw a fit", one Packers player told Silver. "At least one player believed there was carryover from that incident to Montgomery's decision to disregard his coaches' instruction and return the kickoff".

Montgomery's frustration must stem from his lack of usage this season.

"Aaron was hot", one Packers coach told Silver. I've never fought anyone on the sideline. That's not what I do.

"Absolutely not, and that's the point that I was trying to make", he said. "You know you can always beat somebody by just knowing the situations of the game".

Moving forward, the reputation of Ty Montgomery will include what happened in the final two minutes of the game.

"When we talk about ebb and flow, it goes up and down and you have to embrace it", he said. I don't like it. ". I'm very disappointed in the fact that was said and they tried to make correlations that don't exist". And [Montgomery's decision to take the ball out of the end zone] - I don't even know what that was.

"You trust your players on tough decisions, close decisions", McCarthy said.

The social media backlash has been enormous and he even has received threats. I'm getting phone calls, people offering their houses to stay (at) because apparently people are making threats online. "I'm thoroughly pissed off at the state of humanity right now", Montgomery said.
