When the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at an extravagant dinner at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening, most eyes were drawn to her choice of headwear, a stunning diamond and pearl tiara, which once belonged to Princess Diana.

The duchess wore the Royal Family Order brooch for a second time - a personal gift from the queen.

The Queen gives honor to the members of the royal family as a reward for their services.

The tiara is over a century old, and was a favorite of the late Princess Diana.

She sparkled in the Lover's Knot tiara, a piece belonging to Queen Elizabeth, with a long history in the royal family, dating back to 1914. Meghan's first speech of this tour was well received, but as the day went on, the attention on her first solo outing became overwhelming, CBS News correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti reports.

She added another sweet nod to Diana via her earrings which were the Collingwood pearl earrings-Diana often wore the Lover's Knot and Collingwood earrings together for formal events.

Markle wore a $1,495 silk dress with a floral pattern by Figue, which she paired with the same $120 Castañer wedges she wore while visiting Australia's Bondi Beach on Friday.

Their schedule included lunch with Queen Elizabeth, tea with Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, and a visit to an exhibit in the palace Picture Gallery of Dutch art in the Royal Collection. Kate wore her first tiara on her wedding day on April 29, 2011 - the Cartier Halo.

The king and queen hosted Kate in October 2016 when she visited the Netherlands on her first solo trip overseas.

These were the words of the Duke of Sussex Prince Harry while speaking at the State Dinner and Reception hosted by the President Jioji Konrote last night at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on their official 16-day Autumn tour visiting cities in Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.
