The royal couple are on their 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga. The statement read, "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019".

While visiting Melbourne, Australia, last week, Prince Harry and his wife were quizzed by Melbourne school children during a ride on the city's local tram.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been given a royal welcome from fans young and old, as they continue their first overseas tour in Australia.

The couple had arrived in Fiji's capital of Suva earlier that day.

Custom in Fiji dictates that people attending a ceremony such as this do not wear hats as a mark of respect but as you'll see from photos of the reception, Meghan wore a white hat as part of her outfit.

There, crowds ran alongside the motorcade as it entered Albert Park before sitting in silence as the couple were welcomed under cloudy skies for the ceremony, or Veirqaraqarvi Vakavanua.

The father-to-be said: "It is a great pleasure for Meghan and me to be your guests here tonight on our first visit to Fiji".

Speaking about the subject being close to Harry's heart, the by Invictus ambassador explained: "I think they (Harry and Meghan) provide this beacon of hope and light for so many".

The Duke and Duchess came out to the island as part of a celebration dedicating the island's rain forests to the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy, a royal initiative aimed at creating an global network of forest conservation programs.
