The winning numbers on Tuesday were 69, 45, 61, 3, 49, and the Mega Ball was 9. The chance of matching all six numbers and taking home the grand prize is one in 302.5 million. The cash option is usually favored by almost all winners.

Now, for a bit of a spoiler: A jackpot ticket was not sold in California, California Lottery officials said late Tuesday.

Wednesday, the winning numbers for the $345-million Powerball jackpot prize will be drawn. S. history. No one has won the jackpot since July 24.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 per play and there are a total of nine ways to win a prize, ranging from the jackpot down to $2.

If you've won less than $600, you can turn in your winning ticket at a lottery retailer in exchange for cash, according to Mega Millions' website.

The prize pool could rise even more next drawing on Friday.

As lottery fever sizzles over a new record-setting Mega Millions jackpot and a whopper of a Powerball prize, you should know that the D.C. region has produced some massive lottery winners in recent years.

The odds of winning a jackpot remain abysmal at 1 in 258.9 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball.
