Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said the kingdom has met its promise to Washington to make up for Iranian crude oil supplies lost through US sanctions.

Khashoggi, who once acted as an adviser to the Saudi royal family, fled Saudi Arabia in September of a year ago amid a crackdown on the kingdom's intellectuals and journalists. Asked if Khashoggi faces charges in Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed said it was first important to discover where he was.

Saudi Arabia's crown prince, facing U.S. pressure to tame surging oil prices, insisted that the kingdom is fulfilling promises to make up for Iranian crude supplies lost to American sanctions.

"We believe that all the armaments we have from the United States of America are paid for, it's not free armament".

"Since yesterday, contacts have been continuing between Turkey and Saudi Arabia to overcome the problem related to Khashoggi", the source said.

"We are closely following reports of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's disappearance and continue to seek information", a State Department official said.

Jamal Khashoggi's fiancée told media outlets that she waited hours for Khashoggi to emerge from the consulate in Istanbul.

"If Saudi authorities surreptitiously detained Khashoggi it would be yet another escalation of Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman's reign of repression against peaceful dissidents and critics", HRW's Middle East and North Africa director, Sarah Leah Whitson, said in a statement late on Thursday.

Trump has been increasing his pressure on Saudi Arabia over rising oil prices.

He claimed that Khashoggi had left the building not long after he entered earlier this week, alleging, "If he's in Saudi Arabia, I would know that". As details begin to transpite, it turns out the September 30 meeting between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah has sowed more confusion than settled discrepancies between the two nations.

"Khashoggi's words should appear in the space above, but he has not been heard from since he entered a Saudi consulate in Istanbul for a routine consular matter on Tuesday afternoon". Saudi Arabia is a large country with particular significance for the Islamic world. Protesters have been demanding reforms, freedom of expression, release of political prisoners, and an end to economic and religious discrimination against the oil-rich region.

He has interviewed Osama bin Laden and criticized the religious elite while editing Saudi's prominent newspaper Al Watan, Al Jazeera reported. "So ever since the relationship started between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, we've bought everything with money".

Most scandals surrounding Saudi military spending are not that they're spending too little, but that they're buying so much deadly armament and killing so many civilians in neighboring Yemen.
