"He (Salah) is younger and it was his first year back in England since his time at Chelsea, so we will see in the future", said Guardiola, talking ahead of City's visit to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. But football is all about ups and downs.

Liverpool's front three hasn't yet found the form of February and March yet this season with the wide players, Mohammed Salah in particular, diminished by the more defensive approach being adopted by the full-backs.

"He had the courage to take the penalty, in training he shoots ideal penalties, but sometimes it happens, " City manager Pep Guardiola said.

"When we won 2-1 at City, they pushed us in our 18-yard box and we didn't know how to come out".

Liverpool, who lost James Milner to a hamstring injury in the 29th minute, defeated City three times last season in all competitions and remained unbeaten at home against their title rivals since May 2003. "They play for that", Guardiola said.

The Reds coach stressed that the player himself did not seem unduly anxious about a lengthy lay-off, and added: "I ask him if it is a big one and he said don't think so but big enough and he goes off". Maybe it's affected him before, maybe it hasn't. That is why I have so much credit for what we have done.

"But even if that's happened because he was so young, he has to learn. Of course Liverpool fans want him to play bad, and he doesn't want to play bad, he wants to play good", said Guardiola.

Will Liverpool or Manchester City make the most of the opportunity to announce themselves as Premier League title favorites?

It was billed as the biggest game of the season so far but it failed to live up to those expectations as, until the last 15 minutes, both sides appeared reluctant to commit to all-out attack for fear of what the consequences at the other end may be.

Liverpool's Sadio Mane seems to love playing against Manchester City. And we hope that they come back healthy and play these easy competitions, the Premier League, the Champions League and all this.

Klopp was equally content with the draw after emerging from a hectic fixture schedule in which Liverpool played Tottenham, PSG, Chelsea (twice), Napoli and City. We were close, more than ever to winning here but it is better than last season and we compete really really good.
