Trump mocks Christine Blasey Ford at campaign rally

At an evening rally in Mississippi, Trump ridiculed Ford's emotional Senate testimony against his Supreme Court pick Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who Ford says sexually assaulted her when they were in high school in the 1980s.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was involved in an altercation at a bar when he was an undergraduate student at Yale and was accused of throwing ice on another patron, according to a police report obtained by The New York Times.

The Supreme Court began a new term this week without a full bench as it waits on the FBI to investigate sexual abuse allegations against nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

He said the pressure will be on Democrats in predominantly red states that Trump won in 2016, such as Sens.

So far, no Republicans have said they would vote against Kavanaugh. "Right now I would say, my sons", he replied.

"So President Trump went through a factual rendition, that I didn't particularly like, and I would tell him to knock it off".

"Now, in the midst of an FBI investigation, Republicans are interviewing former boyfriends of both Dr. Ford and Deborah Ramirez (another alleged victim of Kavanaugh) in a transparent attempt to discredit them", Feinstein said in her statement.

He has consistently denied these allegations.

Mr McConnell did not specify when exactly the vote would be held, but it is widely expected to be on Friday - the deadline for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to finish its inquiry - or the following day.

The White House - through press secretary Sarah Sanders and others - has dismissed all the allegations against him as old news that had been litigated during the campaign.

"A man's life is in tatters". She doesn't remember how she got home, for example.

Christine Blasey Ford, center, flanked by attorneys Debra Katz, left, and Michael Bromwich, testifies during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in Washington, DC, on September 27,2018.

"I don't know what Brett was doing in the melee, but there was blood, there was glass, there was beer and there was some shouting, and then the police showed up", Ludington added.

But he added: "I never saw him passed out but I saw him quite drunk".

Republican senator Jeff Flake is among those who have taken issue with comments Mr Trump made.

"A vicious, vile and soulless attack on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford", tweeted Michael Bromwich, a former high-ranking Department of Justice official who is now representing the professor.

"The president was stating the facts and frankly facts that were included in special prosecutor Rachel Mitchell's report, he was stating facts that were given during Dr. Ford's testimony", she said.

Officials have said the White House is relying on a request from the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee setting out the terms for the Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry.

Trump's fellow Republicans control the Senate by a 51-49 margin.

The US president had earlier been conciliatory towards Ford, calling her a credible witness and saying he respected her position very much.
