The Amazon Fire TV 4K Pendant is no more

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K launched in India

The Fire TV Stick 4K is a compact HDMI media stick powered by a new quad core 1.7GHz processor, offering access to tens of thousands of channels, apps, and Alexa skills. The new Fire TV Stick 4K ($50) offers robust HDR support along with Amazon's latest Alexa Voice Remote.

In effect, users will not only be able to control their Fire TV Stick 4K with the new remote but also control their television for various functions such as the volume controls, mute and power button among other things.

Amazon claims such premium content on its Prime Video platform should be easier to find using the all-new Alexa Voice Remote (which comes with the new stick, although can be purchased separately for £30 too).

For example, Fire TV viewers can ask: "Alexa, find 4K TV shows" to surface the latest Ultra HD box sets. It's available here, it's cheaper than Roku's stick, and it supports both HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision - the first device to do so without ditching the stick-shape.

As well as HDR10+ UHD and Dolby Vision, sound is bolstered with Dolby Atmos compatibility. It will be available for pre-order starting today, 3 October for $50 in the United States, £50 in the UK.

New Alexa Voice RemoteThe company also announced a new Alexa Voice Remote created to control TVs, soundbars, and receivers by using a combination of bluetooth, infrared, and cloud services. Japan is also getting the device this year, though the company provides no specific date.

A Fire TV Recast bundle including the Fire TV Stick 4K, recently unveiled DVR, and a 35-mile HD antenna can also be purchased in exchange for $249.97, while a Fire TV Stick 4K/ Echo Dot combo now fetches $79.98.

The feature will become available on all existing Fire TV devices in India, via a software update, starting November 14. "And it obviously brings the 4K capability to streaming on a stick form factor", Parag Gupta, Head, Product and Marketing, Amazon India told India Today Tech.
