Thursday’s First Warning Forecast Rain and storms today and tomorrow

Kirk's centre was located near latitude 13.8 North, longitude 63.6 West.

The Category 4 storm had maximum sustained winds of 140 mph (220 kph) and was located 630 miles (1,015 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.

The Tropical Storm continues its movement toward the west-northwest near 13 miles per hour (20 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through Sunday.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Rosa weakened slightly off Mexico's Pacific Coast and had maximum sustained winds of 110 miles per hour (175 kph) late Friday night.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Tropical Storm Kirk caused power outages and heavy flooding across the eastern Caribbean and forced flight cancellations, officials said Friday.

A Tropical Storm Warning was discontinued for Dominica as of 8:00 this morning as Kirk moves westward away from the island.

Acting Attorney General Edmund Hinkson stands by the government's decision to have "business as usual" today despite a Tropical Storm Warning being in effect. Kirk is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression later Friday or Saturday, and then degenerate into a trough of low pressure by late Saturday.

"This motion is expected to continue through Sunday". Gradual weakening is expected during the next couple of days while the system moves over the eastern Caribbean sea.

A tropical storm warning remains in effect for St Lucia and a tropical storm watch is in effect for St Vincent and the Grenadines. Forecasters warned of strong winds and said mudslides and flash flooding are possible. Interests elsewhere in the central and northern Lesser Antilles are further advised to continue to monitor the progress of Kirk.
