Paramount Pictures has released a new worldwide trailer for the Transformers prequel movie Bumblebee.

The second official trailer features a first look at classic-style Transformers Shockwave and Soundwave, and sees the return of Optimus Prime. Bumblebee arrives in theaters on December 21st.

The film also stars Pamela Adlon, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., John Ortiz and John Cena as Agent Burns, who is misled to believe that Bumblebee is escaped criminal from Cybertron and joins with the movie's baddies in an attempt to take him down. Couple that with the conflict involving some sort of military unit (led by Cena's character) that doesn't trust the Transformers, and you have basically have the same Transformers movie you've been getting for the past decade now.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town.

Unlike the franchise's previous entries, which were helmed by Michael Bay, Bumblebee is directed by Travis Knight, best known for his work on Kubo and the Two Strings. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee.

The Bumblebee movie is set in the 1980s, so we see they are doing a bit of a throwback for the fans.

With one late shot in the trailer showing Bee laying on the floor, crushed, his hand outstretched to Charlie, it looks like things are going to get weepy too, which is only fitting for a film that looks like it's channelling E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial more than The Last Knight.

And you can enjoy the trailer right here!

Bumblebee opens on Boxing Day.
