Buffon, 40, and compatriot Marco Verratti are both banned for the Anfield clash with last season's beaten finalists because of suspensions incurred last campaign, while Dani Alves and Layvin Kurzawa are both out injured - and USA worldwide Timothy Weah is not included.

Thomas Tuchel has now won his first six competitive games in charge of PSG, breaking Carlo Ancelotti's club record.

The Brazil superstar was left out of the matchday squad to play Saint Etienne, along with France forward Kylian Mbappe.

"It was a good rehearsal, good for the confidence ahead of Tuesday's match in Anfield against Liverpool".

The Brazil global was in the stands alongside suspended teammate Kylian Mbappe to watch the French champions register their fifth victory from as many Championnat matches through Julian Draxler, Edinson Cavani (penalty), Angel Di Maria and Moussa Diaby goals.

And Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will put out his strongest side for today's Premier League game against title rivals Tottenham at Wembley (12.30pm).

Tuchel said: "The only problem is, what's the risk for him tomorrow night?"

Tuchel in a post-match conference said, Neymar and I spoke.

Speaking after the game Tuchel, who became the first PSG manager to win his first five Ligue 1 games, claimed he is close to finalising his side for Tuesday's game-but hinted he could spring a surprise.

"If we do not hurt PSG when they are in doubt, it's very hard".

Cavani made it two early in the second half after he was pole-axed in the box by Loic Perrin before getting up to slam home the resulting spot kick, and Di Maria netted PSG's third by sweeping the ball home in the 76th minute.

Earlier, Nice came from an own goal down to beat Rennes 2-1, with Pierre Lees Melou grabbing the victor in the 89th minute after Allan Saint-Maximin had levelled to spare the blushes of Malang Sarr who put through his own net just before the hour.

Lyon warm up for their Champions League trip to Manchester City next midweek by going to Caen on Saturday evening.
