Three Patriots that will give the Texans a hard time

They came as close as ever just previous year, when it took a miracle game-winning drive in the final minute and one of the best games of Tom Brady's career (378 yards, five touchdowns) to seal their latest victory over Houston.

The Patriots quarterback released a surprise episode of his Facebook documentary on Wednesday, and in the five minute video, Brady made it clear that he wants to play until he's 45.

Despite winning five Super Bowls and becoming the oldest player ever to win MVP honors last season at age 40, Brady said he thinks there's another level he can reach. ABC6 Sports Reporter Ian Steele has more from Gillette Stadium.

With the absences of Watt and Mercilus leaving an overmatched secondary exposed and with an offense that, lacking quarterback Deshaun Watson (torn anterior cruciate ligament), did next to nothing, the Texans' defense suffered miserably a year ago, the 436 points the team allowed the most in the league. "I want to be the best quarterback I can be and that requires a big commitment on a daily effort".

If the Patriots want to win they will need a complete effort on both sides of the ball.

"I have confidence in them, certainly", Brady said. "The interception I threw early on in the game. that was pretty much it".

"Really just one thing", he said. "And you know, I think any time you are together with people for a long period of time, relationships ebb and flow".

"We try to do a lot of different things in the community, always trying to reach out, always trying to help". "This guy had beaten Alabama in the national championship game in front of 100,000 people on national television and nearly did it the year before if I'm correct". He played in only five games in 2017 before tearing pectoral in October. And I think people are just looking for something to write, talk about. Like life and death.

Watson has watched the tape from last season's loss plenty of times, and he said it wasn't the two touchdowns or the 301 yards that stand out to him. "I love being out there and the preparation, what it takes to be a great player". It'll be a challenge for me. I've seen all the coverages - we have a lot of answers to the test. "It's f-- going to be hard to do". But I think I can do it.

White has emerged as an integral part of the New England offense over the last three years, while Chung is a veteran presence in the secondary.

For the Texans, the return of DeShaun Watson instantly makes them a much better offensive team, as he was playing very well last season prior to getting injured. And once you stop you're done. "Personally, I'm going to have a chip on my shoulder, but I think it's bigger than that".

"I'm sure there are a lot of people who are cautiously optimistic", said Watt, limited to three games in 2016 following back surgeries.

The hard work ethic of Watt would also mesh well with the Patriot-way and would put Watt back on his path to one of the greatest defensive ends of all time.
