"We truly believe and will do everything we can to win as many games as we can and to have a fantastic season".

It remains to be seen whether Cech, who was named captain against City, will retain his place in goal when Arsenal visit his former club Chelsea on Saturday or if Leno will be handed his competitive debut.

'For Saturday, the decision for me is easy, ' Emery said. 'Petr Cech can continue to start the match, I believe in him.

Both clubs were edged out of the top-four race last season with Chelsea finishing in 5th and Arsenal 6th and the remit for their new managers is to secure Champions League football.

Cech started the game despite the recent £22.5 million signing of Bernd Leno, the former Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper who was reported to have been signed as his replacement. Different qualities but for us, like we want to play, the two goalkeepers can play.

"His first game against City was always going to be hard".

With new Gunners head coach Unai Emery encouraging his team to play out from the back, Cech looked uncomfortable on occasion when trying short passes to his team-mates.

The Blues bounced back from their Community Shield loss at the hands of Manchester City by brushing aside Huddersfield Town 3-0 at the John Smith's Stadium on the opening matchday.

And when Cech finally played one clearance long into the City half, it was met by huge cheers by the Arsenal fans.

"We want a good preparation before and a good response on the pitch to that preparation".

"Today, we had a meeting with the players to close all the possibilities to leave or come with more players".

"After this injury, I tried with Lichtsteiner, who is a player with experience. We only have three players: Carl Jenkinson, David Ospina and Joel Campbell, with the possibility to leave".

"This week Nacho Monreal is working every day, training every day with us", Emery said.
