Kelvin Benjamin on Panthers: Cam Newton, Bills WR receiver talk

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton

When Benjamin said Newton was an inaccurate passer last week, the quarterback didn't seem bothered by it. However, Benjamin was not interested in listening to what Newton had to say.

Newton attempted to shake Benjamin's hand, but the Bills wide receiver kept his hands at his side.

It wasn't clear how much love was on the table Thursday when Newton approached Benjamin on the field at New Era Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., but the quarterback appeared to proffer a handshake that was rejected.

In his seven-year career, Newton has thrown for 4,000 yards once (his rookie season) with 158 touchdowns against 94 interceptions. "It was a bad fit from the get-go".

After getting drafted by Carolina in the first round in 2014, Benjamin was sent to Buffalo for two draft picks ahead of the 2017 trade deadline. "If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" However, the players will finally get a chance for live action as they face the Buffalo Bills in the first preseason game.

After all the negativity from the past week from Benjamin regarding Cam Newton, it's good to see something positive come out of last night's preseason debut. Oddly enough, when Benjamin was lost for the season with a torn ACL in the summer of 2015, the Panthers went 15-1 and reached the Super Bowl.
