Everton are set to hold talks with Jordan Pickford over a new improved contract

Chelsea have made Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford their primary target should Thibaut Courtois leave for Real Madrid this summer, Sky Sports News understands.

The 2017-18 Champions League winners were heavily touted to lure in Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard to the club and after long-drawn negotiations, the deal is finally off after Stamford Bridge outfit demanded a colossal sum to let off the Belgian winger. He has just one year remaining on his contract at Chelsea.

The La Liga giants have been relentlessly pursuing Courtois this summer, with the Belgian goalkeeper keen to return to the Spanish capital and Chelsea resigned to losing him.

The Blues look to have done enough to keep hold of Eden Hazard this summer, with reports in Spain suggesting Los Blancos have ended their interest in the attacker.

He was regularly shackled to the right-side of a midfield quartet under Zinedine Zidane.

Real seem to have found a way around that by making a combined offer incorporating Courtois, who previously spent time in Madrid on loan with Atletico and still has family based in the city. But new coach Julen Lopetegui wants him playing as a more central striker enjoying the freedom that was previously bestowed on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Willian, on the other hand, has been strongly linked with Barcelona, but they opted for sought-after attacking midfielder Malcom instead as they were unwilling to cough up the £70million Chelsea were demanding for the 29-year-old.

But Real's bid would give Chelsea another opportunity to get a sizeable fee for a player who only has two years left on his deal.
