Arsenal boss Unai Emery confident Aaron Ramsey will sign new deal

Unai Emery is confident Aaron Ramsey will stay with Arsenal.

Both sides started with unfamiliar line-ups but Arsenal were the dominant force in the first half before they were hit with a sucker-punch four minutes from the break. For me, he's a very good person, a very good professional and he has a lot of experience in the football world.

"Listen, I'm a player who always gives 100 per cent regardless of what's going on. I think about the match today first, then training tomorrow, the match on Saturday to continue our preparation", the Spaniard said.

"They know that Costa and Koke and all the rest of the players will rejoin us for the season in August, so right now what they're doing is important".

Arsenal could be hard to play against this season, for the first time in well over a decade, and that will surely be music to Gunners fans' ears.

And while Ramsey was his captain on Thursday, Emery insisted that no decision has been made yet about who will take over from Per Mertesacker permanently this season.

However, his future at Emirates Stadium was believed to be unclear following the arrival of Emery as coach.

"But if the opportunity is there, I don't think any player would say "no" to it and I'm no different to that".

That has created a structure where Gazidis, Sanllehi and Mislintat work together with Emery on most key decisions - a major departure from the Wenger years, when the Frenchman had the final say on almost everything.

"Every day we are having meetings together and speaking about the Arsenal project", Emery said.

The Gunners though are not prepared to pay the 29-year-old's €40m release clause as Arsenal fans took to Twitter to express themselves.

Further behind him in the heart of midfield, Guendouzi, a recent £7 million (S$12.5m) signing from Lorient, proved the heartbeat of an Arsenal midfield that also featured Ramsey.
