HBO's 'Deadwood' series to get new life as TV movie

'Game of Thrones' Final Season Premiere Details & Prequel News Revealed!

'Game of Thrones' Final Season Premiere Details & Prequel News Revealed!

Fans of the series were left without even a single new episode this year, for the first time since the show premiered in 2011. The show is set to return for a third season next year.

Now, thanks to HBO's programming president Casey Bloys, we know it will arrive during the "first half" of next year.

He did, however, offer this tiny soundbite: "It's pretty great".

In May of 2017, as Game of Thrones neared its seventh and penultimate season on HBO, the network announced that it was exploring the idea of expanding the world of dragons, White Walkers, and dudes whose maybe-girlfriends are actually their aunts through multiple spin-off series. Bloys also revealed that HBO is only going forward with one of the five Game of Thrones prequel series that were in the works. The series, created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, frustrated some fans at the end of its second season due to overlapping narratives that many viewers found impossible to make sense of and/or follow. "It will feel very different because it's 8,000 years before, it's a very different setting, a very different time in Westeros, It will feel different but still Game of Thrones". "We're not trying to do Game of Thrones Part II". "The update I will give you on the prequels is we are doing a pilot that Jane Goldman wrote", Bloys said.

Bloys also said there were presently no plans to advance any of the four other spin-off concepts which were presented to HBO to the pilot stage.

As for that one Game of Thrones prequel pilot (out of the five originally ordered), HBO is officially moving ahead with one as previously reported last month.

It has been one of those projects we always hoped might happen, but never quite thought would blossom into reality.
