The boys were transferred by helicopter and ambulance to a hospital where they are being treated, but officials did not disclose details of their condition.

Reuters, citing an unnamed source at a nearby hospital, reported that the boys' conditions were "not bad" but will be monitored.

Narongsak said after the first four boys were rescued that they would be quarantined "for a while because we are concerned about infections".

The four boys pulled from the cave Sunday in an urgent and risky operation that involved them diving through the cave's tight and twisting passages were in good health.

Authorities have been tightlipped about the progress of Monday's operation.

The first boy emerged from the cave at 5:40 p.m., less than eight hours after the operation began under gray skies.

Officials have said storms forecast for Chiang Rai province in Thailand's far north had factored into their decision to go ahead with a complicated and risky plan for the boys aged between 11 and 16 and their coach to dive out of the cave.

Rescue chief Narongsak on Sunday described their journey out, escorted by the elite divers, as "smooth".

Extracting everyone could take up to four days, but the initial success raised hopes that could be done. That brought the total number of boys rescued to five. In the videos, two divers can be seen carrying the submarine underwater, and at the end of another video, a boy is seen coming out of the pod.

The cave complex is off-limits during the rainy season, which usually runs from May to October, when downpours can quickly flood it. Relatives said the boys had been inside the complex during the dry season.

Authorities said the next phase could begin any time within a 10-hour window that began about 0000 GMT (7am local time) on Monday.

According to the Associated Press, a Thai official revealed that the healthiest boys were taken out of the cave first.

The rescue mission has been a huge operation, led by the Royal Thai Navy's SEAL unit, and supported by a cast of hundreds.

Four were rescued over the weekend.

Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the rescued boys.

The aide, Sitthichai Klangpattana, didn't comment on the boys' health or say how well the operation has gone. But the rescue was prodded into action by the threat of a fresh round of rains and falling oxygen levels in the cave.

Teams have used high-powered pumps to empty more than 100 million of gallons of water out of the cave.

Thai officials are not only racing against worsening weather, but also lowered oxygen levels in the underground complex.

A former Thai Navy SEAL diver died in the cave last week due to lack of oxygen.

Four more young footballers and their coach at the Mu Pa (WIld Boar) Academy Mae Sai, Ekkapol Chantawong, are still on the ledge.

Thailand's Health Secretary said last week that on arrival at the hospital the boys would need to be quarantined for one to two days before being allowed to see their families. A storm arrived while the group was deep inside.

After the boys did not return home from football training their parents went out looking for them and their bicycles and kit were found at the entrance to the cave. The submarine will likely reach the rescue site soon, along with a team of engineers from SpaceX that will assist with the rescue.

All ten of the boys trapped in a flooded Thai cave have been rescued.
