Syrian and Russian jet fighters on Thursday targeted the duty free zone between Jordan and Syria borders, causing a major fire that destroyed several storehouses, eye witnesses said, as UNHCR called on Jordan to open its borders to refugees fleeing shelling and bombardment.

Government forces will continue to advance at the Nassib border crossing as part of its strategy to fight the rebels, AMN reported.

The army has already captured nearly all towns and villages in the eastern countryside of Daraa either through battles or the reconciliation agreements, which enabled the army to enter areas without a fight as the rebels accepted to surrender their weapons and embark on reconciliation with the government forces.

Weakened by a crushing government offensive backed by Russian Federation and abandoned by their USA allies, rebels in southern Syria found themselves compelled to accept yet another humiliating surrender deal that would see opposition fighters transported by buses to areas held by rebels in the country's north.

The capture of the Naseeb border crossing is another victory for President Bashar Assad's forces, who have regained control of most of the country's key cities from insurgents in recent years with the help of powerful allies Russian Federation and Iran.

Friday's agreement came after the bombardment of rebel-held areas intensified earlier this week after the rebels rejected a deal with the Russians. Official rebel spokespeople did not respond to requests for comment.

Osama Al Homsi, 26, said he was hesitant to return to his hometown of Jeeza in southeastern Daraa after the deal.

Clashes between both sides rocked the area between Daraa city and Um al-Mayazin.

State news agency SANA said Syrian troops entered the southern town of Saida after intense clashes with rebels, many of whom later withdrew to the nearby village of Taiba.

"No one knows what's happening-it's in God's hands", he added.

Recapturing it could bring renewed trade with neighbouring Jordan.

Russian soldiers were also seen at the crossing, as Moscow was the driving force behind the progress in Daraa, both militarily and politically.

In northern Syria, meanwhile, the Kurdish Hawar news agency reported an explosion in the town of Manbij, where dozens of people were demonstrating against the Turkish military presence in the country's north.

He said that while the United Nations and partners are doing what they can to deliver life-saving aid to the people of south-west Syria - both from within the country and across the Jordanian border - the security situation is hindering efforts to reach many people in dire need.

Photos posted online by pro-opposition media outlets appeared to show large convoys of displaced people returning to the city of Busra a-Sham in eastern Daraa province on Sunday.

Neighboring Quneitra province remains under rebel control for now despite also being the target of recent airstrikes.
