It's worth noting that Sirius XM Satellite Radio, which operates in North America exclusively, is now at the top spot with more than 33 million subscribers.

According to a report by CNET, Spotify has overall 75 million paying members and 170 million people using the service either by listening free with ads or by subscribing. An anonymous source spilled the unofficial news, which puts Apple Music ahead of its primary competitor, as well as Tidal, Sirius XM, and even more popular music streaming services.

The new information is right in line with the Wall Street Journal's previous predictions. Spotify is still the dominant player globally, but Apple's growth rate is faster than Spotify's in the USA, the world's largest market for music.

Eyes and ears have been on Spotify for its major strides in the music streaming world.

While exact numbers were not given in order to protect the identity of the source, Apple Music is said to have "20 million plus" subscribers.

Apple Music has surpassed Spotify's paid subscriber count in the United States, according to a new report.

A year ago, Spotify boasted 17 million US subscribers, compared to 13 million for Apple music. Apple Music has been lagging behind Spotify for quite some time, but now, it looks like Apple has caught up.

Now that Apple Music has overtaken Spotify in terms of paid subscribers in the United States, what could be next for the music streaming service.

For years, Spotify has been the number one service for paid subscribers who choose to listen to music that they pick themselves.
