Just to the northwest, the Pawnee Fire had burned almost 14,000 acres as of Saturday evening and was 73 percent contained.

The biggest impact from the fire so far has been smoke. That fire was more than 70 per cent contained after charring about 22 square miles (57 square kilometres) of brush. "Due to Red Flag conditions, fire activity has increased", the update states.

The evacuations affect those living on County Road 63 to County Road 76, west of Hwy.

The fire is just three percent contained, and fire officials say shifting winds are letting the fire grow quickly.

People affected by the fire were being evacuated. The National Weather Service predicted a high of 92 degrees on Sunday in Lake County.

The City of Winters has canceled its fireworks show scheduled for Tuesday due to the County Fire now burning in Yolo County. It started Friday afternoon. Officials ordered about 300 people to leave their homes near Lake Berryessa in neighbouring Napa County as flames bore down.

Advisories have been issued for north of Quail Canyon Road, south of Highway 128 east of the Blue Ridge mountains, and west of Pleasant Valley Road.

"A county the size of Madison requires a very conjoined effort and yesterday was a prime example of multiple agencies working together for the benefit of its citizens", read a Facebook post from the Madison County Fire Department.

Ralph Criner, 84, built his home off of Country Road 23 in Yolo County and has lived in it for 47 years.

Residents in Nederland on Thursday evening were reporting a strong smell of smoke and seeing haze and ash falling from a fire burning in Grand County, but the Boulder County Sheriff's Office stated that no fires were burning in Boulder County.

In response, Cal Fire has tripled its response to 110 engines as of 7 a.m. Sunday morning.

Cal Fire said 30 structures are threatened by the County Fire as it sears through farmland.

Hot winds fuelled the massive fire that prompted evacuations in rural northern California and had pushed the flames into a neighbouring county. On Sunday, it reached 32,500 acres and crossed over into Napa County.
