What should have been the "ward congress" of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo ended in violence on Saturday, May 5, with deputy governor of the state, Prince Eze Madumere, allegedly escaping attack by thugs. According to Vanguard, Governor Rochas okorocha's son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, said that there was a swap of congress committee that was supposed to conduct ward congresses in the state.

He said no other person could talk authoritatively on the exercise except the NWC.

He regretted that the congress culminated into lost of lives in some few states in the federation and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of party's faithful in Plateau State who simultaneously embarked on consensus and affirmation of the previous exco to eschew crisis.

Suleiman Hunkuyi, the Senator representing Kaduna North district has declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state is dead.

The Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Davies Ikanya, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt that the exercise had nothing to do with distribution of materials.

"It is the hope and aspiration of stakeholders of our party in Rivers State that National Executive Council (NEC) will respect the opinion of the people of the state".

The leader of the Congress Committee, Musa Halilu-Ahmed told journalists at the party's secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, that all the steps taken towards conducting the congress were backed with the laws and regulations set by the party for the exercise.

Bolaji Abudulahi, the party's National Publicity Secretary, made the call in a statement in Abuja. You can see that the congresses were peaceful.
