Ronaldo hurt as Barca, Real draw

Barcelona continued their unbeaten run with a win against Deportivo last Sunday

Barcelona continued their unbeaten run with a win against Deportivo last Sunday

"They played well and so did we.We had a good opportunity to win today, clearly, we had a lot of chances to score, especially in the first half, in the end it was a draw and that's that, there are two games left and, in the end, Barcelona will finish the season unbeaten", Zidane said.

Ernesto Valverde's side now need to avoid a loss in their final three fixtures - two of which are at home - and the most hard of those was the visit of Real.

Real Madrid have struggled in the league this campaign, and following Sunday night's 2-2 draw in a tempestuous Clasico, the Santiago Bernabeu club are 15 points behind their fierce rivals.

Barca's joy was short-lived, though, as Los Blancos leveled matters four minutes later with Ronaldo poking home from close range after Karim Benzema had headed the ball into the Portuguese's path.

As you would expect of any fanbase in Europe, Liverpool supporters are anxious about Cristiano Ronaldo heading into the European Cup final in Kiev on the 26th of May.

Perhaps the biggest concern for Real Madrid on the night was the sight of Cristiano Ronaldo grimacing after he scored the first equaliser in the 14th minute.

Barcelona played 45 minutes with 10 men after Sergi Roberto was sent off for appearing to slap Marcelo, with the versatile Spaniard now ruled out of the clash with Villarreal. One turn away from Bale that drew a foul was a reminder of his qualities, and it was slightly surprising that he was sacrificed in the second half to a standing ovation when Ernesto Valverde wanted to add another defensive player.

Zinedine Zidane opted for a change at the start of the second half as Marcos Asensio replaced Ronaldo, while Barca withdrew Philippe Coutinho for Nelson Semedo.

The home fans were raging as the half-time whistle blew but, with Marco Asensio on for Ronaldo, they were celebrating eight minutes after the restart. As such a key part of Barca's successes during his years at the Nou Camp, he will be a tough act to follow.

Ronaldo's goal against Barca was a scrappy one as he bravely threw himself at the ball to get it over the line ahead of Gerard Pique.

Real are trying to win the Champions League for a third successive season. His first shot was saved by Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, the second fired wide of the far post. It would be a fitting end to the season if his improving form saw him star against Liverpool later this month.
