Women children killed as bandits invade Kaduna community again

The attack, which tookmplace in Gwaska Village, in the Birnin Gwari area, saw a mass slaughter take place. But he never did up till the time of fi ling in this report.

The attack came about a week after other unidentified gunmen attacked a nearby village at the Birnin Gwari area.

He added that the police had deployed over 150 police operatives in the area, adding that normalcy had returned to the community.

"Survivors of the attack mostly women are now at Doka district".

At least about 45 corpses have been recovered after the attack by bandits on Gwaska village in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State, Daily Trust heard from multiple sources.

According to residents, the bandits were shooting sporadically and burning down houses in the community. Also the Armed bandits burnt down completely the village of about 3,000 inhabitants.

A survivor said some of those killed are volunteers who tried to defend the village and children that can not escape the onslaught. "Also, the vigilantes made u-turn with a handful of survivors and injured people".

Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, the governor of Nigeria's Kaduna State, said he was "concerned by the incessant banditry attacks in the area" and military forces have been deployed to the area.

Birnin Gwari has witnessed several attacks by bandits leading to the death of scores of people including soldiers and police officers.

The statement further said that the federal government will do everything in its power to ensure the security of lives and property in Kaduna State.

The State Emergency Management Agency is providing aid to those affected, it said. At a town hall meeting held recently in the area, the Emir of Birnin-Gwari, Alhaji Jubril Zubairu Mai Gwari II, had told the IGP that the old Birnin-Gwari town was now being fully controlled by bandits.

"Kaduna State Government is deeply committed to overcoming the unfortunate criminality and banditry being carried out against innocent citizens in Birnin Gwari Local Government".

The state government has also not reacted to the tragic incident.

Residents of the village demand from President Muhammad Buhari for the urgent deployment of a larger number of police and military to protect settlements, in particular the village Guasca.
