The Echo Dot Kids Edition plays music, answers questions and comes with a one-year subscription to Amazon's FreeTime Unlimited, which offers access to kid-friendly books and ad-free radio stations.

Here is a reported image of the Fire TV Cube, alongside the now available Fire TV (Pendant) and Alexa Voice Remote. The device is also said to have a second generation far-field voice recognition and can even control some other smart home devices via the company's own digital assistant - Alexa. As an introductory offer, the Amazon Echo Spot is available at a discounted price of Rs 10,499 across all the retailers. Many have been enhanced for users to utilise Echo Spot's glanceable screen to watch cricket highlights on ESPNCricinfo, viewing cab options and booking details of user's Ola cab, discover restaurants with Zomato, viewing album art when listening to favourite music etc. You can also get an additional Rs 1,000 off on purchasing two Echo Spot devices.

If you want to hide from the all-hearing ears of Amazon, you can just move to a different room to escape its microphones.

According to Amazon, the new FreeTime on Alexa will begin rolling out to Echoes everywhere over-the-air starting May 9th.

The Spot does everything the other Echo devices do with the added advantage of a screen. If kids say, "Alexa, can you please tell me what's five plus seven", Alexa will respond, "Five plus seven equals 12". It costs you an extra $30 on top of the standard Echo Dot (so $80). The company claims that they are hands-free and fast. Alexa is the brain behind the Echo devices.

In other Amazon news, The Information reports that private equity firms and other investors are "circling" small businesses that successfully sell on Amazon's platform.

Showing the importance of the Indian market, Amazon launched its smart speaker range in India in October a year ago.
