Battlefield 5 May Include A Battle Royale Mode

The introduction of a Battle Royale mode in the next Battlefield game is not surprising given the popularity of the mode.

It is unconfirmed at this point but many sources claim that this is, in fact, going to happen.

Battlefield 5 is now in development. In the case of Black Ops 4, the developers are ditching the story mode in favor of multiplayer and a Battle Royale mode.

What's less certain at this time is how DICE will get the mode to work.

If the mode does get the green light, Battlefield: Battle Royale could end up as a new part of Battlefield V as a free update. Earlier today, reports from VentureBeat's Jeffrey Grubb reveal that the studio behind the upcoming Battlefield V is testing a battle royale mode for the game. Meanwhile, the real Battle Royale experience can be had thanks to Battlefield's strategic, tactical, team-based gameplay style and large scale maps. The game has always been a shooter with massive maps, player counts, and vehicles. It's unclear whether it will launch with Battlefield V, or come later (or indeed, be abandoned). The reports are quite interesting since the two series have always kept their game modes and made just minor changes throughout the years. What's more, DICE isn't the only one apparently investing in the battle royale system.

The battle royale prototype is described as similar in structure to both Fortnite Battle Royale and its predecessor, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. That source claims that the studio is now experimenting with different ways to get the basic concept of a battle royale title to work within the Battlefield systems. Are you playing any battle royale games?
