She said "your current superintendent and your board have done (well) working on this".

The Gulf Shore City School Board unanimously voted to enter contract negotiations with Akin Monday. "So I'd hope the public would see that".

Lauren Neale, a fourth-grade teacher at Pinewood school, said the school was a "somber and sad" place as staff learned their fates Monday.

"I was hopeful we turned the corner", he said. Obeng said he was "shocked and surprised" by Porter's accusation and said he had no idea Porter would be making such a claim at the meeting.

"I think it is highly unusual the steps they took", he said. "Do I believe that I could be unbiased if a complaint or issue was brought to me?"

Spivey and Meggen Sande also declined to say how they would vote.

During the recent teacher advocacy demonstrations in Frankfort, Ludlow teachers opted to gather together with high school principal Travis Caudill to talk about students' posting to social media responsibly, Borchers said.

In Pinehurst, the existing school would be demolished and replaced in situ, but with a building created to serve twice as many students as its current school building can handle.
